LEA Consulting conducted a Noise Impact Study in support of the Site Plan Application (SPA) for a mixed-use development at 2782-2882 Kingston Road in Toronto, ON.
The objective of this assessment was to evaluate the potential noise impacts on Kingston Road and St Clair Avenue. Road noise levels were calculated using the method outlined in the Ontario Ministry of Environment document “ORNAMENT – Ontario Road Noise Analysis Method for Environment and Transportation,” October 1989 and the MOE “STAMSON,” Computer Program for Road and Rail Traffic Noise Assessment.
Due to the close distance between the building façade and the noise-emitting roads, as well as the high window-to-floor area ratios, significant noise mitigation measures were required to meet the MECP noise criteria. Recommendations included substantially upgraded window glazing for all units facing Kingston Road and St. Clair Avenue. With the recommended noise mitigation measures, the proposed condominium will provide a quiet and comfortable living environment for the future residents.
