LEA takes a lot of pride in attracting and retaining a young, diverse, and talented workforce. The passion of our employees extends beyond their nine-to-five work day. Our employees are brand ambassadors, community volunteers, supporters of our environment, and so much more.

A true testament to our culture, Mike McConnell, a Transportation Planner at LEA, has been nominated by the Markham Board of Trade for their Yonge Professional Network (YPN) ASPIRE Awards. The ASPIRE Awards celebrate the success of young Markham entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders.

Mike’s nomination was submitted based on his work with Smart Commute Markham and Richmond Hill (SCMRH). Mike is committed to encouraging fellow employees to make smarter commuting decisions, and his perseverance has ultimately led to LEA becoming one of SCMRHs most active workplaces. Mike also initiated LEAs involvement in the transit pilot project to use Presto payment systems. This initiative was one of many that influenced SCMRH to present LEA with a “Silver Workplace” designation.

A recent member of SCMRHs Advisory Committee, Mike is not only a cycling advocate in the office but also within our local community. He was selected as a “Cycling Superstar” by SCMRH for his commitment to promote safe cycling and active transportation modes for a happier and healthier Markham, providing advice for aspiring cyclists on the corridors of Markham.

Mike’s commitment to our community is commendable and makes him the perfect nominee. We are very proud of Mike and wish him the best of luck at September’s ASPIRE Awards Gala.
