The Federal Government facility renovation project includes an upgrade of existing security systems across multiple buildings as part of a large facility renewal undertaking. The LEA team initially took part in a phased security Threat, Risk, Vulnerability Assessment of the Federal Government operations and facilities in the Ottawa area.
As part of this phase, LEA undertook a technology assessment of the existing systems and provided recommendations for upgrades at the Head Office, Data Centres, and Disaster Recovery facilities. LEA has subsequently been retained to complete detailed designs for four high profile facilities and are working to complete a design for a fifth facility.
As part of this project, LEA was responsible for the design of all enterprise security systems, including:
- CCTV Surveillance
- Intercom System
- Access control & Intrusion Detection
- Security Management System
- Security Control Centre
- Fencing and Fence Detection
- Parking Access Control
LEA’s design of the security system allowed phasing of renovation work to be completed while having a fully functional security operation throughout the building. The deliverables for the security system design included functional specifications, performance requirements, construction details, security systems CAD drawings for tender, and procurement documentation.
LEA has also been retained to provide technical expertise and oversight for the construction and deployment phase of the project, spanning multiple years, and will be responsible for providing expertise on testing, site inspections and commissioning.
