A Noise and Vibration Impact Study was completed by LEA Consulting in support of the proposed mixed-use development at 33 Isabella Street in the City of Toronto.
Through advanced modelling, the study determined the impacts of vehicular noise on the proposed development’s noise sensitive areas. Furthermore, the vibration impacts of the nearby TTC Yonge-University subway line were determined through field measurements using state-of-the-art instrumentation.
The findings indicated that Ontario Building Code (OBC) compliant wall and windows will suffice to achieve the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) indoor sound level criteria. Furthermore, the study concluded that the outdoor amenity area will not require noise control measures. As such, the issue of Yonge Street vehicular noise and TTC Yonge-University subway line vibration will not constrain the implementation of the proposed mixed-use development.
